August 9, 1912

Went out for a drive with Hugh
and on our way home called at
Aunt Anna's and got my suit
case.  Got home in time for
dinner.  At three o'clock Bessie
told me she had written Jen to
come over so we went down where
the train came in.  She looked
well and I was so glad to see
her.
(Note: Bessie was a Chisholm; the Chisholms were closest neighbors to the MacGillivrays)

August 8, 1912

Got up early.  Had breakfast which
I enjoyed very much after my
fast.  Left for home by the Sydney
express.  Enjoyed the trip from
Halifax to Eureka very much.  Uncle
Joe met us and we had dinner
in Millstream.  After dinner Aunt
Anna, Rachel and I called on
Mrs. John Campbell (Wilma Grant).
She was newly married and I had arrived at one of her receiving
days.  Wilma was dressed in her
wedding dress and looked very
nice.  Jessie May, Margaret and
Mrs. Fraser were receiving with her.
We went from there to Mrs. Chisholms.
Aunt Anna and Rachel went
home but I stayed with Bessie.

(Note:  Aunt Anna [Grant] was the sister of Isaac MacGillivray, Georgie's father.  Uncle Joe was her husband.)

August 7, 1912

Was dreadfully sea sick all day
never got out of my cabin.  Was
disgusted with myself as the sea
was quite calm.  Reached Halifax
about six o'clock in the evening.  It
took all my energy to get up and
dress.  Took a carriage from the
wharf to the King Edward Hotel.  Had
a very nice room.  Had hoped to make
a few calls and see a little of the
town but felt so wretched that I
went to bed at once.

(Note:  first opened in 1903, check out  History of the King Edward Hotel )

August 6, 1912

Aunt Sade and I were busy
all the morning and at noon
we left Boston on the SS Perry
 for Halifax.  The afternoon was
beautifully fine.  Miss M. C. Fraser
(a cousin of Jims) from New York was
on board and I enjoyed talking to
her very much.  The sunset was
beautiful on the water.

(Note:  Have just learned it was probably the SS A. W. Perry......)

Went into Boston early and
spent the whole day shopping.
Finished packing my trunk and
suit case and went to bed tired
out.

August 4, 1912...

Was awfully tired so did not go
to church.  In the evening
Victoria Cameron and I went
up to see Gilvary and A. D. Fraser.

August 3, 1912....

Left Wellesley Saturday evening.
Got to Boston at eight o'clock and
went out to Roxbury and stayed
with Aunt Sade for two days.

(Note: Aunt Sade was the sister of Isaac MacGillivray, Georgie's father, and daughter of the Rev. Angus MacGillivray)
