...the original volume, slightly worn after almost 100 years...
One hundred years ago, Georgie G. MacGillivray traveled to Tasmania with her sister, brother-in-law, and their two children. She would be nanny to the family while James William Fraser served as engineer to a hydro-electric plant project. I will post entries coinciding with their 100 year anniversary. Journal entries will begin August 3, 2012. Prior to that I will post background information on Georgie, James, other family members, and related topics.

ReplyDeleteAs the first commentator, I will point out that we are not sure why the cover says "Christmas, 1912" since the entries start in August of 1912. Most likely a relative gave her this journal before the journey - did they have that engraved knowing that she would still be away the next Christmas?
ReplyDeleteDon't know where this journal originated or where you found it or who gave it to you, but might be nice if you could give us some background....and maybe a preview of the agenda for the trip? Regardless, I think it's wonderful you are doing this and I really appreciate it and will look forward to each and every post!
